Exploring Talks that drive change
Research
Here we will post research and results on Talkology.
The method that we intend to adopt is to be based on an assessment grid (above you find a great infographic by VISup).
Talkology’s first step will be to build this grid in an unbiased, open and iterative manner, which will include end-to-end testing with users.
Right from the creation of an initial beta of the grid, we intend to have hundreds of videos and hundreds of users and experts located in various parts of the world.
Even when it achieves the necessary reliability to be used as an instrument in mass testing with the first thousand talk videos and at least a thousand users, the grid will still be considered a “permanent Beta”.
The system of validating the speakers’ videos will be kept online so that volunteer users will always be able to increase the data gathered (i.e. the test NEVER ends).
The results will always be published under the Creative Commons license, and the raw data gathered will be shared with the other research partners in the project.
Talkology will also make use of the latest eye-tracking technology and will focus on involving professional speakers in a cycle of observations using sensors during their speeches.
New tools will be specifically developed for event organizers which will assist them in analyzing audience and speaker data.
Preliminary results (speakers area) will be published in summer 2010.
